Useful Info for creating digital images for slides.

We are happy to work in any colour workspace as the images are produced by a Raster Image Processor (RIP) programme for sending the data to the film writer. The RIP programme is the same one used by professional processing laboratories to control their Fuji Frontier printers and similar machines from other manufacturers. However, the colour and density of the final product is dependant upon the files we are supplied with. Our slide / negative production process is consistent, so any adjustments you apply to subsequent images will be reflected in the subsequent production.
File Size
The more pixels the better. 80% of amateur photographers who scan slides or negatives decide on the print size and subsequently scan the media to give 300 dpi on the print. Please do not do this, if your scanner can scan at 4000ppi, please scan at 4000ppi. All slides and negatives are produced at 5780ppi but the quality of the final image is very much dependant on the size of the file we receive.
With regard to digital cameras, we recommend capture and filing in RAW format with all subsequent file saving in TIFF or PSD. Remember, your slides will be projected onto a large screen so try to avoid JPEG, it will show in the end result.
A 35mm image is 36x24mm and so the ratio of width to height is 3:2. If you submit files in this ratio they will be reproduced exactly like an image from a 35mm camera. If the ratio is not 3:2, your image will be produced with two equal width black lines at top & bottom or left & right, dependant upon the ratio of width to height of your image.
